Smithson Street Park
Baltimore, Maryland

Smithson Street Mall was a park designed to define a neighborhood and it’s community. Intreegue worked closely with the community leaders to conceptualize a park design that embodies their vision and needs. A transformative space that would bring people together, tell the story of the neighborhood, and create re-investment opportunities. The two main ideas were to adopt the moniker of “Mall” in order to activate the urban park, and to integrate “Stoop Stories” repurposing marble stoops as benches as a legacy of community togetherness. Features include gateways, Sycamore tree allée, large open lawn, urban canopy, walking loops, fitness space with connection to nike trail, dog park, playground, creative crosswalks, water feature, stormwater plantings, outdoor movie space, market stalls, and stage.
