Colleen Vacelet was involved with the Master Plan design in 2006. We began to implement part of the Master Plan in 2008 with a Children’s Garden. The design team began the process by facilitating a workshop to establish the mission of the garden. The concept for the children’s garden was to make it an ethnobotany garden. This garden seeks to educate the public on an array of plant uses that have persisted in different cultures throughout history on the site. Ethnobotany describes the study of people’s relationships to plants, including plants used for food, fibers, fabrics, building materials, cosmetics, and medicines.
