Marie Selby Botanic Garden
Sarasota, Florida

This project took the form of charrette and visioning to establish the wants and needs of the garden stakeholders. This design incorporated several ways for children to interact with garden elements while learning about the rainforest. Seven garden areas were established: 1) an entry zone to set the tone for the garden as visitors would walk under a “living” topiary mask gate through a totem pole walkway; 2) an amphitheater; 3) a canopy walk; 4) an overlook platform situated in an existing mature Banyan Tree 5) a secret trail through vines; 6) a jungle walk with animal sculptures; and 7) a jungle rock with a waterfall, grotto, and interactive jet fountains.
